 CEO`s Message

Dear Friends,
Since buying Eti Krom in September 2004 from the Turkish Privatization Administration, it has become a success story for us and we continue to look forward to an exciting future. Additionally, Yildirim Group acquired the largest European ferrochrome producer Vargön Alloys AB in Sweden in February 2008, becoming the 2nd largest global producer of high quality high carbon ferrochrome.
Having established its name in the international chrome industry as respected actors, Eti Krom & Vargön Alloys AB have been elected as Board Members of the International Chromium Development Association (ICDA). We at Eti Krom and our associates at Vargön Alloys maximize the synergies within the group through a continuous exchange of knowledge, skills and competences.
Eti Krom is currently the world’s No. 1 hard lumpy chrome ore producer while the Yildirim Group is the world’s No. 2 high quality HC FeCr producer with facilities based in Turkey and Sweden. We are exporting our chrome ore and HC FeCr products to over 8 and 50 different countries respectively with a strong, dynamic reputation while continually searching for new markets and expanding our partnerships.
As the flagship of the Yildirim Group, Eti Krom has been a model of sustainable success and growth despite recent dramatic changes in the business landscape. We have become a leading global chromium company driven by customer focus, technical development, entrepreneurial flair, innovation in management and, most importantly, integrity and honesty.
Our determination to be the most reliable supplier in the industry, delivering the best value to its customers, resulted in total investment figures surpassing US$ 200 million on the modernization and enhancement processes of production facilities to this date.
Our purpose is to lead to excellence in the industry by delivering high quality products and solutions globally. Our world-wide distribution and marketing capabilities, combined with flexible sales policies and personal attention to each client, enable us to operate successfully in the global markets.
Our most recent large scale investments on a Waste Gas Cleaning System and a Waste Gas Heat Recovery System for our facilities in Elazig not only support our corporate sustainability approach, but also make Eti Krom a proud early part of Turkey’s transition to a green economy, in accordance with having recently signed the Kyoto Protocol. In addition to advances in environmental protection, our company is proudly making committed efforts to pursue economic and social development.
In 2011 and beyond, the demand for chrome ore and ferrochrome will continue to be revived all over the world, developing at an exciting pace with China leading the effort. We look forward to solidifying our presence as a strong global player in the chromium industry by sticking with our company values and distinguished strengths, as well as continuously looking for growth opportunities and sustainable development.
